How It All Works |
|
1. Call us to schedule an installation appointment with us (date must be at least 5 days after herbicide is applied). We’ll provide you a job quote based on your square footage estimate. On the day of installation, we’ll measure and update your quote at that time before we spray. Please try to be as accurate as possible. For properties in the Fort Walton Beach area, we can come and do an accurate measurement beforehand and provide you with a firm quote at that time. Either way, we’ll provide you with a written quote within 2 business days either by email or postal mail. 2. Homeowner/contractor pre-treats lawn with herbicide/amendments as necessary. 3. American Turf Pro arrives and applies fertilizer, then the slurry mix which includes your selected seed, a nurse seed if applicable, premium wood mix mulch, essential bio-nutrients and our premier bio-stimulant/soil conditioner and tackifier (biodegradable erosion control glue). 4. Wait 24 hours before you start to water. This allows the tackifier to set up to ensure your new seeds aren’t washed away in the rain. 5. After 24 hours, water 3 times a day. We strongly recommend watering at 7:00am, 1:00pm and 6:00pm for the first 2 weeks. Watering time should be 15 minutes, each cycle. 6. In as little as a week, you will start to see your beautiful new grass emerge from the soil. During the first month, refrain from walking on your new lawn as much as possible. 7. At 2 weeks, reduce watering to twice a day at 7:00am and 6:00pm. Continue this for 4 more weeks. Watering time should be 20 minutes, each cycle. 8. At 4 weeks, apply a starter fertilizer (We recommend Scott’s Brand Starter) per manufacturers recommended rate and reduce watering further to once a day, usually in the early morning or late afternoon. Watering time should be 30 minutes each cycle. 9. Your first mowing should be when the new grass reaches 3-5 inches in height. This should occur within the first month of planting. Only cut 1-2 inches from the top, and only with a mower in peak condition with sharp blades. Mowing will also assist in filling in blank spots. We recommend you rake clippings for the first 3 mowing and mulch or allow your clippings to remain on the lawn thereafter. 10. At 8 weeks, you may reduce watering even further, depending on weather conditions. A typical watering schedule for NW Florida is 2-3 times a week. At this point, apply more water, less frequently. This stimulated root growth. Watering time should be 30-45 minutes each cycle. 11. At 8 weeks, after following all watering and fertilizing instructions, (depending on weather/temperature) your lawn should be lush and thick.
